How to play F#sus4, step by step

1. Index finger: press flat across the low E to high E strings at fret 2
2. Middle finger: 4th fret, A string
3. Ring finger: 4th fret, D string
4. Pinky finger: 4th fret, G string
5. Strum all six strings.

To resolve into plain F♯, keep everything planted and slide the pinky on the G string back one fret. That single move is the sus4 release.

If it buzzes or chokes

Thin strings die at the barre

Bring the index a little further over the fretboard edge and roll it toward the nut so the bony side, not the soft pad, presses the B and high E strings.

The 4th fret notes buzz

Middle, ring and pinky are stacked in one fret. Angle them slightly so each fingertip sits just behind the fret wire on its own string.

Changing to F♯ smears

Only the G string note changes, dropping one fret. Keep the barre planted and move just the pinky instead of resetting the whole hand.
