Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 9, 2026
Melodician is a chord reference. You can read every page without an account, without an email address and without agreeing to anything. This page says exactly what happens when you visit.
Who is responsible
The site is run by Emsora, MB, company code 307370471, registered at Tujų g. 38-2, Raudondvario k., LT-14257 Vilniaus r., Lithuania. Under the GDPR we are the data controller for this site. Write to support@melodician.com about anything on this page.
What we do not do
There are no accounts, so we hold no name, email address or password. We do not sell or share personal data. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not run advertising on the site today. If that changes, this page changes first.
Analytics
We use two analytics tools to see which chords people look up and which pages are worth writing next.
Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) records page views, roughly where in the world a visit came from, the device type and how visitors arrived. It sets cookies in your browser and processes data on Google servers, including in the United States, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. IP addresses are truncated by Google before storage and we never see a full one. Google's own description is at policies.google.com/privacy.
Ahrefs Web Analytics (Ahrefs Pte. Ltd.) counts the same page views without cookies and without tracking anyone between sites. We use it because it is the measurement we would keep if we dropped everything else.
Both are counting tools. Neither is used to identify you, and neither is used to decide what you are shown.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics sets cookies as described above. Beyond that, the site stores a small number of settings in your browser's local storage, such as whether you have switched the diagrams to left-handed. That never leaves your device and we cannot read it.
Things embedded from other companies
Song sections embed a player from Spotify so you can hear the real recording. That player is served by Spotify, which sets its own cookies and sees your IP address and browser once it loads, exactly as if you had opened Spotify yourself. Their policy is at spotify.com/legal/privacy-policy.
Fonts are served from this site, not from Google Fonts, so no request leaves your browser for them.
Links that pay us
Some links to lesson providers are or will become affiliate links, marked where they appear. If you follow one, that company sees the visit and may set its own cookie to record that you arrived from here. It never costs you anything extra. More about how we handle this is on the about page.
Server logs
The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., which keeps short-lived technical logs of requests, including IP addresses, to serve pages and block abuse. We do not use those logs for analytics.
How long anything is kept
Analytics data is retained for 14 months in Google Analytics and for as long as the project exists in Ahrefs. Neither holds anything that identifies you personally.
Your rights
In the EU and UK you may ask what data relates to you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to processing, or complain to your data protection authority. Since we hold no accounts, in practice there is rarely anything of yours to return, but ask and we will tell you honestly. You can also block analytics entirely with a browser extension or by turning on Do Not Track, and the site works exactly the same.
Children
The site is a public reference with nothing age-specific on it. We do not knowingly collect data from children, and there is no way to submit personal data to us through the site.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes, such as adding advertising or accounts, will be described here before they take effect.
